The Nintendo Turkey-Run (a giving story)

It’s been a personal ritual for years. I’ve done it alone and kept it private… until now. Playing Santa around town for an afternoon has been my favorite day of the year. This year, the time had come to share the experience, for two reasons.

The first is that part of the work I do involves encouraging adults to instill better belief systems in children. Sounds like a corporate quality-control statement, but in essence, I’m striving to educate parents, and those adults who influence children, about planting the all-important seeds of self-worth and community service, at an early age. This has been a long-time mission of mine and sharing this story with you now, would help me in that regard.

The second reason is that I didn’t venture out alone on my annual errand this year … on purpose. Instead, I chose to have Corbin and Cameron, my two, fabulous, visiting grandsons tag along with me. See, an important part of what I want to help teach them, are the ways to serve and to give unconditionally, so they can start the process of paying forward, at the ages of 11 and 10. To be a part of my small Joyeux Noel excursion I believed, would give them an example of those things - at least ‘Papa’ style. Read more

You might be aware that 10 Million Clicks For Peace co-founder, Rick Beneteau, founded the Internet Toy Drive back in 2001 as a corporate sponsor of the U.S. Marine’s Toys for Tots charity which raised a lot of money for toys for families in need for a decade (NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe was his sponsor for all 10 years). This year, he wants to loan Toys for Tots a brand new video (Rick co-wrote and produced the song, Children Are the Very Heart of Christmas, in 1988) for their campaign which is now in full swing. You’ll see at the end that it asks viewers to donate to Toys for Tots. Please SHARE this Christmas video with everybody you know and let’s help a lot of children in need!

Children Are the Very Heart of Christmas (inspirational video)

The story behind this song is below video.

In 1988, 10 Million Clicks For Peace co-founder, Rick Beneteau, his great friend, music mentor and partner, Larry Thompson and another music friend, guitarist extraordinaire, Vic Bortolon wrote a song to support the the local Rockin’ For Toys toy drive in Windsor, Ontario. They gathered many of the top musicians and vocalists in town to record Children Are the Very Heart of Christmas in their studio. With public appearances, television interviews and telethon panel appearances this amazing group of talented and giving people made sure as many kids in this area as possible did not got without at least a single toy under the tree. About 13 years later Rick resurrected the song to use as the theme song for The Internet Toy Drive which he founded in 2001. The ITD was sponsored by NFL superstar Drew Bledsoe and raised a lot of money and awareness for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program for the next decade. Fast-forward to this holiday season and Rick and Larry have upgraded the song and donated the use of this brand new video to Toys for Tots to help them in their 2016 campaign. Kindly share this post link with everyone you know (in the U.S.) and help put a smile on the face of many, many children this Christmas morning:-)

My Passion Made Me Do It!

I’ve wondered for years about people who wake up every day to a job they dislike, relationships they are less than thrilled with and changes they refuse to make because they simply do not seem to desire more, or better for themselves. You know, the kind of person who seems to be “spinning their wheels,” going nowhere because they don’t seem to have any great destination to drive to.

Do you wonder about these kinds of people too?

I believe that lying just below the surface of what appears to be an almost fruitless existence there is fertile soil just waiting to be cultivated - a future greenhouse for something great to grow. All that is needed is “the seed”. Read more

Every once in a while it’s necessary to just unplug and think deeply about the really important things in life. Such is the message in Rick Beneteau’s The Legacy You Leave. It was the audio version of Rick’s piece that caught Julian Kalmar’s attention a decade ago and caused him to contact Rick. Eventually, the duo went on to establish 10 Million Clicks For Peace:-) A dear friend of 10 Million Clicks For Peace, Paul Sutherland, brought Rick’s 146 words to life in this video…

Here’s an article by Rick Beneteau that could help set the tone for this brand new year:-)

It was one of the worst periods of time in my life.

Recently separated, I had just lost custody of my two daughters and was forced to vacate my newly-renovated home (with three days notice) that contained the well-equipped recording studio I had spent two years building prior to selling my drycleaning business (in order to build a long-desired music production company).
