Values and Your Philosophy of Life

Your philosophy of life is your guide for living. It always must include a set of values to live by, and a sense of which are more important than others.

Value relates to the intrinsic worth of something. And since everything has some intrinsic worth because of its soul, everything has value. But our set of values will be relative to the importance we give to something – that is, what it is worth to us.

Whatever we find of value is worth spending time and energy on. In fact, if we value something it demands our time and energy. Some things that we value conflict with other things that we value. For example, we might value our job which demands a lot of time and attention, and we also value our family which also demands a lot of time and attention. These are conflicts that need to be resolved. When we don’t pay attention to the conflicts, our conditioning determines which values we give more time and energy. Read more

Joyous Communication

How can I honestly express myself when I fear that others will think less of me? How can I be true to my heart when I fear the reactions of the person that I would like to be able to be truthful to?

During the various seasons as we are meeting with many people familiar and unfamiliar this is a perfect time to be conscious of a new way of dealing with old situations that no longer serve a purpose.

There is no purpose in creating fear or anger within yourself or in others. There is no purpose in bringing your heart to a space where joy and light fade into the mundane disappointments and disillusionments that are inevitable when we go down a well-trodden path that leads to nowhere. Read more

Steve Goodier - Dare to Believe

A veterinarian prescribed three huge pills to be given to a sick mule. “How do I get him to take the pills?” the farmer asked.

“It’s quite simple,” replied the vet. “Just insert the pill into a pipe. Put the pipe in the mule’s mouth and blow on the other end. He will swallow the pill without realizing it.”

The next day the farmer returned, looking sickly. “You look awful!” said the doctor. “What happened?” The farmer explained, “He blew first.”

It occurs to me that some people will swallow anything! Maybe not literally, but it seems that some people are ready to believe in any new “get-rich” scheme; to follow any new fad; to swallow any fantastic story! Read more
