Steve Goodier - Dare to Believe

A veterinarian prescribed three huge pills to be given to a sick mule. “How do I get him to take the pills?” the farmer asked.

“It’s quite simple,” replied the vet. “Just insert the pill into a pipe. Put the pipe in the mule’s mouth and blow on the other end. He will swallow the pill without realizing it.”

The next day the farmer returned, looking sickly. “You look awful!” said the doctor. “What happened?” The farmer explained, “He blew first.”

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a stream of love, which washes away all impurities wherever it flows. By keeping this spring of love, which is in the heart of man, running, man is able to forgive, however great the fault of his fellow man may seem. One who cannot forgive closes his heart. Steve Goodier - A Climate of Forgiveness

In his tape Living Faith (Random House Audio Books, 1996), President Jimmy Carter shares that forgiveness is fundamental to his life. He says that without the knowledge that he can be forgiven, it would be impossible for him to face his own shortcomings. This even includes forgiveness of himself.

He relates that both he and his wife, Rosalynn, are “strong-willed” persons who find it difficult to admit being at fault.

One day, after a particularly disturbing argument, Carter decided that he would never let another day end with each of them angry with the other. So he went out to his wood shop and cut a thin piece of walnut, a little smaller than a bank check. On it, he carved the words, “Each evening forever this is good for an apology or forgiveness, as you desire.” That evening, he gave the plaque to Rosalynn. He reports that, so far, he has been able to honor it each time Rosalyn has presented it to him. Read more

JH: We would like to discuss prosperity, Foster. Most people believe that money is extremely important. To some extent they also believe that they create the circumstances surrounding them. Yet, how do you explain the many people around us who appear to be doing everything possible to make ends meet, who seem to have the proper attitudes and motivation and still they are having an extremely difficult time?

Foster: You said one word, John, that I think has a lot to do with it. The word is “appear.” You also mentioned that most people consider money very important. Perhaps they consider it important but I want to draw a fine line and say that perhaps they feel it’s important but they don’t place an importance upon it. You see, anything in life upon which you place an importance causes an energy to go out of you to magnetize and draw to you the very thing you place the importance on. Concerning money, individuals who place adequate enthusiasm and importance on it, who are motivated — start thinking the things, doing the things and attracting the things and people that result in money. Others have the feeling that although money is important, they do not deserve it and if they do not deserve it, they do not get it. Read more
