Every violation of truth is not only a sort of suicide in the liar, but is a stab at the health of human society.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Human relationships, both personal and professional, are based on integrity. In fact, if you can’t believe a person, it makes it difficult to interact with them with any level of certainty. When others view us this way, as people who are not of the “whole truth,” it makes it difficult for us to succeed. I would rather tell the truth and suffer for it while learning a lesson. At least this way those around me trust me. And trust goes a long way toward your success. Being completely and tenaciously honest is not only the “best” policy; it is the “only” policy. This keeps your heart alive and the sanctity of the community you live in alive as well.
Action Point: Are there areas where you are less than truthful? Make a commitment to tell the truth from this point on. You will be amazed at how your heart frees itself when you do this. You will also enjoy the respect and trust of others, which will go a long way toward your personal and professional success! If there is an area that you need to “come clean” in, do so today and get it behind you!
