The history of the world is full of men who rose to leadership, by sheer force of self-confidence, bravery and tenacity.
~Mahatma Gandhi
Many people think that people who become leaders are just born leaders. Yes, some people have natural abilities or traits that may give them a head start, but the fact remains that most leadership is earned. To be able to influence people, particularly on a grand scale, one must show much character. To lead, we must commit ourselves to developing our self-confidence, which comes from truly knowing who we are and what we can do. It comes from bravery, which is the choice to move forward toward what is right, even when fear stares you down. And when all else fails, the pure inner force of tenacity will take the leader, and the future leader, on to new heights. While others second guess, turn away in fear, and give up when the going gets tough, the leader forges ahead!
Action Point: Take some time to focus on these three areas: What can you do today to build your self-confidence? What are you afraid of currently that you know you must face in order to be a leader? What do you feel like quitting on that you know you must push through? Take tangible steps today to make ground in these three areas and see your leadership increase!
