Think Positive!

It was early 1992 and I was in the throes of putting my new music production company together with my partner and longtime friend, Larry Thompson. I had just sold my multi-store drycleaning company and was “free” to do music the rest of my life! That notion would be short-lived I would soon learn (but that’s another story), however, life was good and we were asked by the likes of Jack Richardson, producer of Bob Seger and Alice Cooper among many other music icons, to write, and quickly so, as many children’s songs as we could for his upcoming production date with the Irish Rovers.
We decided to write songs that mattered, self-esteem based inspirational material to move kids! Problem was, we had only a few days to write AND record the tunes so we’d have little choice but to produce them simply and play all the instruments and sing ourselves in lieu of getting session players and vocalists. Realize that I sing like a cow calving on a good day, so Larry would have croon the best he could.
For whatever reason Jack did not produce that record and Larry and I have 6 children’s songs on our hands - 19 years later.
Everybody has bad days and here’s a fun little tune about mom and her child experiencing one of those. It’s called Think Positive!, and please, if there are children nearby, gather them around before you click the Play button and follow along with the lyric below. Enjoy!

THINK POSITIVE!
The alarm clock rings you jump outa bed
You roll back over but you bump your head
You could get angry you might see red
But remember this song and you’ll laugh instead
You run to school down a busy street
You trip on the way and you skin your knee
You could get mad you might wanna scream
But remember this song and you’ll just say “oh clumsy me!”
Think Positive! Think Positive!
Each thought you got, each day that you live
And soon you’ll see how great life can be
When you just think positively
The school bell rings and you start to sweat
The teacher’s gonna give you a spelling test
You know it’s gotta be the toughest yet
But remember this song and your mark will be your very best
Think Positive! Think Positive!
Each though you got, each day that you live
And soon you’ll see how great life can be
When you just think positively
You walk straight home and her face is long
Mom’s had the worst day everything’s wrong
She said” The washer overflowed, I burned a cake
Had a flat tire, broke the garden rake
Went to hang out the clothes cuz the day was so warm
Got the last one pinned up when it started to storm”
But you know just where her thoughts belong
Give her a hug and sing her this little song
Think Positive! Think Positive!
Each thought you got, each day that you live
And soon you’ll see how great life can be
When you just think positively
repeat chorus

I like the lyrics of the song! As a kid, I’ve experienced those kind of problems as I grew up. LOL Now I’m old enough to appreciate the reason of this sacrifices during my younger years.
